April 21, 2009 Printer Problems As most or all of you are undoubtedly aware, the work we did yesterday to resolve problems with print management caused additional problems. Without giving you more information than you need, the problem is associated with the print server, which queues up print jobs for the various networked printers on campus. We have just restored our print queues to the server environment before our work yesterday. While this is not perfectly stable, it will certainly be an improvement over what we experienced during the past 26 hours. The securemfp print queue is not operational at the moment; we hope to restore it shortly. Printing to specific printers should be working at this time. If you encounter printing problems, please call the Help Desk and they will direct you with remedial action. We will continue to work to resolve the issues associating with our print environment. There are several software components that may be contributing to the problems. Information Technology is working with several vendors to identify and resolve the issues. We are also doing our very best to keep printing operational while we work to fix the problems. If you have questions or concerns, please let the Help Desk know.
