May 8, 2009 Please do not respond to Mailbox Storage Limit Message Members of the St. Norbert College Community: We regularly encounter examples of e-mail "phishing" scams that attempt to get personal information by pretending to come from a legitimate SNC source. We've just seen another that's going around. In this case, the message has the subject: "Mailbox Has Exceeded Storage Limit" and the message comes from "System Administrator ". The message asks for Current Username and Password and says that you may not be able to send or receive email if you do not respond. There may be variations in the wording of the subject or the from address. Please DO NOT RESPOND to this query! This did NOT come from St. Norbert College. We never solicit personal information in this way. The last time one of these went around, someone responded, their email account was taken over and used for spam, and St. Norbert College e-mail was blocked by a number of sites. If you received this query and DID reply, please change your password IMMEDIATELY and contact our Help Desk. For more information about phishing schemes and what to look for, please read the following handout: http://www.snc.edu/techsupport/docs/phishing.html If you have questions about this or if you are ever unsure about the legitimacy of an e-mail query, please call the College's Technology Support Help Desk at xHELP/4357 or send e-mail to helpdesk@snc.edu . -- Information Technology -- it@snc.edu http://www.snc.edu/it/ 920-403-3873 (phone) 920-403-HELP/4357 (Help Desk) 920-403-4084 (fax) If you have any questions, please call the Tech.
