September 16, 2011 Update on lab/classroom computer problems We are pleased to announce that we have finished rebuilding the Citrix servers with our consultant and we believe that the problems with this system have been resolved.* We realize that this has been very inconvenient and frustrating, and we greatly appreciate everyone's patience as we work through the growing pains of this new system. Because the rebuilding was just recently completed, we are still monitoring it to make sure that there are no remaining issues. Please assist us in this by notifying us immediately if you experience any issues on any Windows lab, Library, or classroom computer. *Some faculty and disciplines have specific needs that we are addressing on an individual basis. We'd like to offer a few tips on working with Citrix, which is on all Windows computer lab, Library, and classroom computers (except Cofrin 112): - Any changes made to personal Citrix profiles prior to Thursday around 4:30 p.m. have not been saved. Any personalizations/customizations made from now on will be saved in your Citrix profile. - It's best to always close all open programs before logging out or shutting down the computer. - There may still be some quality/performance problems when playing web audio or video, but these will be addressed as soon as possible. We will notify you when this has been done. - Some of the programs have been reorganized, so if you have trouble finding a particular program, look in the Lab Apps folder. - Printing from lab/Library Windows computers is still not working reliably. This too will be addressed as soon as possible and we will notify everyone when it has been done. Again, if you have any problems with anything not addressed above, or observe anything that is not working properly in the classrooms/labs, please report it in as much detail as possible by e-mailing helpdesk@snc.edu or completing the Service Request Form at http://www.snc.edu/service. Thank you. If you have any questions, please call the Tech. Support Help Desk at xHELP (4357). |
