  2. Go to Tools – Account Settings. In the column on the left, click on Server Settings.
  3. In the "Server Name" box, change imap.snc.edu to zimbra.snc.edu.
  4. In the "User Name" box, change your login ID to your firstname.lastname (the beginning of your e-mail address).
  5. Under Security Settings, select TLS (Thunderbird 2.x) or STARTTLS (Thunderbird 3.x).
  6. Decide whether you still want Thunderbird to check for new mail at startup and at regular intervals (this will depend on how you plan to use it). Change the settings if necessary to suit your preferences.
  7. Uncheck "Empty Trash on Exit."
  8. In the column on the left, click on Outgoing Server (SMTP).
