Web Maintenance Tools & ReportsThere are several reports and tools that campus web developers can use to keep their web sites in top shape: Broken Links ReportsBroken link reports are generated every weekday and sent to the departmental e-mail address. These are important and should be fixed as soon as possible. If you need help fixing them, just reply to the broken links report e-mail that you receive. All campus web developers are responsible for making sure that their sites do not have broken links. For the current broken link reports, go to mySNC and look under "Web Site" on the main menu. Web Traffic ReportsThe IT Department provides Web Site Traffic Reports for departments/organizations wishing to track the use of their web areas. These reports track usage for a particular area, or directory, of the web server. Traffic reports are generated daily and are stored on the web server, where they can be viewed through mySNC (under "Web Site" on the main menu). Monthly reports from 2004 to the present are available. If you wish to receive these reports for your department's web area, contact Scott Crevier and let him know which directory the report is for (e.g., /computerservices/ or /esl/). Due to the overhead associated with generating these reports, if you no longer need them, please let Scott know. Web Files Analysis (webinfo) ReportsThis report lists many details about files on the web server, including: the number of files of each type, files with spaces in the file names (no spaces on the web!), and all of the files sorted by file name, by size, and by date. To see the report for your area, go to: http://www.snc.edu/yourfolder/webinfo.html, replacing "yourfolder" with the actual name of your folder, e.g., http://www.snc.edu/computerservices/webinfo.html. |
