E-mail & Discussion Lists
Introduction to Thunderbird (1½ hours)
The College uses a free e-mail program called Thunderbird. This workshop covers all the basics of installing, configuring, & using Thunderbird, including some great features like junk mail filtering and automatic SNC address lookup.

Introduction to WebMail (1 hour)
Most people on campus use Thunderbird or Pegasus to view their e-mail. WebMail is another e-mail program that you can use to read your e-mail using any web browser from anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection. This workshop will show you how to use WebMail.

Working from Home (1½ hours)
Learn about the various methods for accessing network drives (J, G, & M) from off campus, including NetDrive and NetStorage, as well as the best ways to use your SNC e-mail from off campus, and other tips on using SNC computer resources/systems from home.

Images & PDFs
Editing Digital Images (2 hours)
Once you take pictures with a digital camera, you'll usually want to edit them. We'll use the Adobe Photoshop program to crop, resize, brighten/darken, adjust color, and optimize digital images in appropriate formats for both printing and web page/e-mail sharing. Techniques used will be applicable to other software programs. (This workshop does not cover scanning.)

Scanning Images & Text (1½ hours)
What you need to know to scan your pictures with the best results, including graphics formats, scanning photos, file sizes and image compression. Text scanning & OCR is also covered, along with scanning to Adobe Acrobat PDF. This workshop does NOT cover image editing.

Organizing your Bookmarks in Firefox (1 hour)
Could your Internet bookmarks/favorites use a little tidying up? When you move to Firefox, you can import your bookmarks from Netscape and/or your favorites from Internet Explorer. We'll talk about how to edit, organize, & use Firefox bookmarks to their fullest potential.

Safe Surfing: Secure your Computer & Protect your Identity
Being online is dangerous. Spyware, viruses, spam, & a host of other online threats pose serious risks not only to your computer, but to you personally. These things allow criminals to take control of your computer, use it for illegal activities, watch everything you do on your computer, and ultimately steal your identity. Chances are that spyware & other hazards are already lurking on your computer. In this class, you'll learn about these threats, how to rid your computer of them, and how to protect yourself from future attacks.

Converting Paper Forms to E-Forms: Web vs. Word vs. Acrobat (1½ hours)
Want to distribute your office's forms electronically, so that people can fill them out on their computers? There are several formats in which you can do this: Web page/HTML, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat. We will discuss the pros & cons of each of these formats, and what you need to consider when deciding which one to use. Note: This workshop does not explain how to create each of these formats.
