The science building was built in 1967 as the result of a major fund-raising effort that began in 1959. The building's namesake, Dr. John R. Minahan, was a prominent Green Bay physician, surgeon, and civic leader.
The Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Psychology, Physics, and Geology departments are located in the building. In addition, the John Minahan Science Building contains the human anatomy labs, a greenhouse, and an observatory.

The John Minahan Science Building also houses the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, Business Office, Media Services, a computer lab and three lecture halls. The Center for Adaptive Education and the Young Artist Workshops are located on the second floor. Career Services and the psychology labs are located on the lower level.
