Most TRIPS are student led, a model that has worked well for groups over the years. This adds a new dimension and sometimes a new challenge to the trip process. SNC Trip Leaders receive over 20 hours of training and many have prior trip and leadership experience. Trip leaders are volunteers. They rely on the shared leadership and talents in the group to accomplish all that should be done on a top-notch trip. You will be asked to serve in one or more of these leadership roles:
Education Programmer: In charge of researching and educating participants about trip issues and sites.
Reflection Coordinator: In charge of planning or coordinating reflections before, during, and after the trip.
Fundraising Coordinator: Organize and lead efforts to raise group funds required for the trip. (Departments may fund half of the trip costs).
Finance Coordinator: Responsible for ensuring that trip money given for expenses and emergencies is used correctly, tracking receipts, completing budget report.
Historian: In charge of recording pre-trip, trip, and post-trip events and preparing posters/display/presentations for 100 Men, Awards program and TRIPS Celebration.
Transportation: Responsible for coordinating routes, maps, keeping track of van records, driver rotations, the rental company agreement, vehicle check out, maintenance and return.
Meals Coordinator: In charge of making sure enough food is provided to participants with the allotted food budget.
Entertainment Coordinator: In charge of coordinating group social activities that help the group relax, ease tension, and promote FUN!
Re-Orientation Coordinator: Re-Orientation seeks to help participants put their good intentions into action after the trip. Re-Orientation builds awareness of issues addressed on the trip and aims to bring participant and campus commitment to life-long service and social change.
