Upward Bound is a pre-college program 100% federally funded by the Department of Education to serve 67 high school students that meet federal low income guidelines and/or are potential first generation college students. We are awarded $347,843 annually to provide the support and resources to help students develop the skills and motivation necessary to pursue and succeed in a program of post-secondary education.

Program objectives:

• Assist students in achieving proficient levels on state assessments test in reading/language arts and math
• Ensure that students who participate in the program are retained in the program (and in high school) until they graduate from high school
• Ensure that students successfully enroll in a post-secondary institution after completing high school
• Ensure that students who go on to a post-secondary institution will continue until they earn a post-secondary degree

• Exposure: students participate in cultural and social activities, and meet other diverse students.
• Exploration: students can explore a variety of career and educational opportunities and activities.
• College: students obtain various college experiences by living on campus and visiting other colleges.
• Career: students get hands-on-experience in different careers through the work study program.

Cost:

There is NO COST to the participants. All expenses are paid for by the Upward Bound program. The only thing that we require from participating students and parents is their commitment to the program.
