Stories of Calling
Since the beginning, the Program of Faith, Learning & Vocation has witnessed time and again that our understanding of vocation--how we come to realize and embrace our callings--is deepened and enriched by engaging the call narrative of another person. For the past several years we have done this by reading--encountering calling in fiction, memoir, and theology. This semester we shift the medium to listening as three members of our college and local communities share the story of calling in their lives. We are excited to announce the speakers for this pilot series. All dates include a buffet lunch-free of charge. You are welcome to consider one or all three.
Thursday, March 6, 2014 - Judy TurbaA graduate of St. Norbert College, Judy directs the Norbertine Center for Spirituality. She has worked for more than 27 years in Norbertine institutions as a n educator, counselor, and administrator. With her husband, she has traveled to Zambia to spend time in the schools for the poorest of the poor--leaving part of her heart behind.
Thursday, March 13, 2014 - Kurt VossKurt is Chief Executive Officer of Amerilux International, LLC, SNC parent, and driving force behind the vision and realization of the Cassandra Voss Center. Honoring the memory of his daughter, Kurt's efforts brought our campus a space in which--in his words-- "other young adults can discover and explore their passions."
Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - Bob Boyer Robert Boyer, emeritus professor of English at St. Norbert College, came to our campus straight out of graduate school in 1968. After 36 years of teaching and service he retired, but has remained engaged as a friend of the college. In 2012 he donated his Lloyd Alexander collection to the Mulva Library. Bob has been actively involved with Fuvirese USA and has served on its board of directors.
The registration deadline for all three stories is February 24, 2014.
