Professional Profile
Sabine Hyland has done extensive fieldwork and archival experience in Peru, Bolivia, Panama and Spain. She is also the author of two books, The Jesuit and the Incas (Michigan 2003) and The Quito Manuscript: An Inca History Preserved by Fernando de Montesinos (Yale In Press).
Sabine's research focuses on the intersections of history, race and gender among indigenous peoples of the Andes. Her work has received grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
She is currently co-director of the Andahuaylas Archaeology Project in the central Andes of Peru.
