10th Annual Joan P. Schaupp Women’s Center Phenomenal Woman Conference Saturday, March 29, 2008 12:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. St. Norbert College Bemis International Center

About the conference
This year, the Phenomenal Woman Conference will focus on advocating, supporting, and empowering women. It is a wonderful opportunity for the extraordinary women of St. Norbert College and the greater Green Bay communities to celebrate, socialize, and grow. Though the focus of the Phenomenal Woman Conference is on women, men are welcome to attend.

The conference will begin with registration and move into a delicious lunch, a presentation by the keynote speaker, options for three interactive workshops dealing with advocating, supporting and empowering women, and then a closing session led by musician Tammy Ann Winn.  There will also be gift bags and prizes.

We are very excited to announce this year's keynote speaker, Ellen Kort. She served a four-year governor-appointed term (2000-2004) as Wisconsin's firt poetylaureate. She is the author of 14 books, including eight books of poetry, and has been featured in a wide variety of journals and anthologies. Ellen has a passion for poetry as both an expressive and healing art.

The keynote session will focus on "Finding the Me in the Meaning of Life." One of the most challenging things we are asked to do as a woman is to live our life consciously, fully, and with meaning. It takes great courage. So much is required of us as women, as givers, caretakers, teachers, healers, peace-makers, the female gender, the other half that helps hold up the world. It is a well-known fact that as women we often contribute more to the lives of others and sometimes overlook the true value and worth of our own lives. Ellen Kort invites us to journey with her as we discover our own stories, our own places of inner strength and refuge. Those places where we can befriend and honor who we are -significant, dynamic, purposeful women.
