Advice for writers
Always keep the assignment in mind. It's easy to get lost in your writing, and suddenly you're straying from the prompt. If possible, keep a copy of the assignment sheet on hand and take a look at it occasionally to make sure you're staying on track. Better safe than sorry!

How do you get started on a writing assignment?
Before I start a first draft, I make sure I have some sort of outline. It doesn't have to be super in-depth or formal; it just has to organize my main points into a structure that flows. I also like to physically write down my outline: it makes me feel more obligated to follow it.
