Message from the President: Library dedication and SNC Day
Aug. 26, 2009
Dear alumni friends:
Your alma mater is delighted to request the pleasure of your company at two big events coming up in the next few weeks.
Mulva Library Dedication
You’ve been watching the sparkling new Miriam B. and James J. Mulva Library going up along Third Street for more than a year, and we’re finally ready to “christen” it!
The dedication ceremony will be held in front of the building on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. Jim and Miriam and their family will be with us as we officially open the facility they were so instrumental in making happen. The program will also feature a surprise or two. If you can, please join us for this festive occasion.
The dedication program will be followed by a reception and tours of the facility. Right away I guarantee you’ll be impressed with the light that pervades the building, the state-of-the-art technology, and the warm and inviting ambience.
The Mulva Library already is becoming the intellectual hub of the campus and the public is invited to take advantage of all that it has to offer.
While you’re marking your calendars, please make note of Saturday, Sept. 19. That’s the first annual SNC Day—a campus “open house” that is free and open to the public. Festivities will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 4:00 that afternoon.
SNC Day is intended to show the wider De Pere and Green Bay communities what is happening on campus, and its emphasis will be on fun and families.
We will have horse-drawn carriage rides, boat rides on the Fox River, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a 5K run, presentations both fun and edifying by St. Norbert faculty, live music, food, and much, much more. SNC Day is being held in conjunction with both the campus’ annual Family Weekend for students and their families, and with the City of De Pere’s Fall Fest, offering lots of activities on the east side of the river.
We’re hoping for a large crowd, which will provide lots of visibility for St. Norbert as well as for local organizations and businesses. St. Norbert alumni who would like to have a booth at the event are welcome to do so—just contact Amy Sorenson at 920-403-3165 and she’ll be happy to assist you with the logistics.
So plan on joining us, and do bring along your family and friends!
