Study the art of war — and peace

SNC's military science ROTC program has commissioned both active-duty and reserve-component officers for our nation’s defense — since 1936. Our graduates enter the service with a well-developed sense of duty, and the best attributes of strong leaders: integrity, courage, loyalty, respect, selfless service and honor

Want to participate in extensive leadership development initiatives, acquire advanced military skills and receive thorough career training? SNC will expose you to diverse learning environments, including the field as well as the classroom, in order to prepare you for your career.

Academic paths within military studies

During your first two years at SNC, you’ll progress through basic military science course material. This is the time for you to gauge if military service is a good fit, without a service commitment. You’ll enter SNC’s professional program in your third year, when you take your advanced military science coursework. This is when you officially commit to military service, and where you’ll develop the skills of an officer.

If you’re playing catch-up, we have a plan! SNC offers an accelerated two-year program that includes a five-week basic camp during the summer between your sophomore and junior years, followed by a 32-day advanced camp to help build your skills. After successful completion, you’re ready to jump into advanced coursework during your junior year.

St. Norbert College’s Green Knight Co. is a member of the Fox Valley Battalion, headquartered at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. It includes companies from Lawrence University, Marian University, Ripon College, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

  • I’m the fourth of five children and my parents have sent me to private school my whole life. That was really a financial burden on them, and I didn’t want them to have to pick up my college tuition. So I had to find a way to pay for college, and I decided Army ROTC was going to be the best route.
