Christina Hankwitz

Director of International Student and Scholar Services

Christina Hankwitz joined the Center for Global Engagement at St. Norbert College in 2005. She has served in various roles in the center, including full-time English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor, academic coordinator and director of the ESL Institute. She currently serves as the director of international student and scholar services. 

Christina has extensive background in international education, having worked with students and professionals from around the world. She coordinates with institutional partners to create and oversee ESL programs for student groups. Christina supports current international students with various needs related to campus life and educational programs. She currently serves as the college’s Responsible Officer for J-1 and F-1 students.

Before moving into administration, Christina worked in ESL instruction for 15 years including both community college and Intensive English Program (IEP) settings. In addition to English language classes, she has taught courses in English pronunciation, second language acquisition, TOEFL preparation and has served as facilitator for online TESOL courses.

Christina received her Master of Science in TESOL from Shenandoah University, where her portfolio work focused on language learning strategies for ESL students. A second language student herself, she studied Spanish in Seville, Spain and participated in volunteer service in Humacao, Puerto Rico.
