Explore places and spaces that encourage reflection and inspire joy
Fr. Jim Neilson, Norbertine and SNC art professor, will lead two walking tours to explore the sacred art and architecture of the college in September. He'll narrate an exploration of places and spaces that celebrate beauty and belief, encourage thought and reflection, and inspire wonder, joy and awe.
Notable stops along the tour:
- Old St. Joe’s Church and the National Shrine of St. Joseph: Begin where it began for Abbot Pennings in 1898
- The Old Apple Tree and the site of the first class at SNC
- Main Hall: Angels and more in the architecture
- The Great Lawn: It’s also a classroom, a studio, a dining room, a library, a laboratory, an arboretum and a playing field
- Two Visions of St. Norbert: Outdoor sculptures recalling the conversion and mission of St. Norbert
- A Garden and a Grotto: Celebrating life and the story of salvation, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
