St. Norbert Claims Northern Illinois Huskie Open Championship

DeKALB, Ill. - St. Norbert College rolled to the championship of the Northern Illinois Huskie Open to claim its first meet title since winning its own Tom Barry Invitational in 2009.

The Green Knights posted a total of 35 points, with their top seven runners placing in the top 14. Carroll University was second with 46 points.

Senior Alex DeVillers finished second with a time of 26 minutes 53 seconds over the 8,000-meter course. Chicago State University's Matthew Jordan won the individual championship with a time of 26:45.

St. Norbert's next six finishers were all freshmen. Michael Linzmeier was sixth with a time of 27:34, and Alex Kimble was eighth with a time of 27:45. Nathan Heppe placed ninth in 28:11, and Brady Bemis was 10th in 28:19. James Gilbertson finished in 13th at 28:29, and Benny Swift was 14th in 28:35.

Also placing in the top 50 were Ben Knapp, who was 29th in 30:24, and Luke Frommelt's 43rd-place run in 32:20.
