EAU CLAIRE - St. Norbert College captured a win in its inaugural game in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with a 3-1 win over UW-Eau Claire at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Green Knights improved to 4-2 overall, while the Blugolds dropped to 1-2. It was the NCHA opener for both teams. The two teams complete their two-game series at 7 p.m. Saturday in Eau Claire.

St. Norbert opened the scoring 11 minutes 44 seconds into the game with Kelley Ritchie's first collegiate goal off an assist from Danielle Rozon. Eau Claire tied it at 18:49 of the first on an unassisted goal by Taylor Jenkins.

Lauren Straus put the Green Knights ahead at 11:40 of the second period, scoring her third goal of the year. Lotta Haarala and Marissa Gale picked up assists. That goal held up until 1:15 remained in the game when Zoe Kurth scored an empty-net goal with Straus assisting.

Kaley Gibson stood tall in net for St. Norbert, stopping 45 of Eau Claire's 46 shots on goal - including all 17 in the second period. Jordan Quiring made 28 saves for the Blugolds.

Both teams committed five minor penalties, and both clubs were 0-for-4 on the power play.
