DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face North Central College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

The Green Knights (7-3) will face the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin champion Cardinals (10-0) at Noon Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

St. Norbert is making its ninth NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance and eighth in the last 12 years. The Green Knights are 1-8 all-time in the playoffs, and have won 13 Midwest Conference football titles since joining the league for football in 1984. St. Norbert lost to UW-Eau Claire 24-20 at Minahan Stadium in its last NCAA appearance in 2007.

North Central is making its fifth NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance, and is 3-4 all-time. The Cardinals qualified four straight years from 2005 to 2008, and were eliminated in the second round by Franklin 38-28 in their last appearance in 2008.

This game marks the first time St. Norbert and North Central will meet on the gridiron. St. Norbert has played a current CCIW foe in football just one time since 1940 - a 39-32 loss at Augustana College in the first round of the 1999 NCAA Division III Playoffs.
