Green Knights Beat Knox in Busy Weekend

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College beat Knox College 8-1 in a men's tennis dual to earn one win out of three team matches this weekend at Western Racquet Club.

The Green Knights, now 4-5 on the year, also lost 8-1 to UW-Eau Claire and 8-1 to UW-La Crosse.

St. Norbert swept doubles action against the Prairie Fire. Derek Harrington and Nick Acosta beat David Ham and Kenton Tilford 8-0 at No. 1. Josh Sweere and Danny Meicher topped Runtian Bai and Andrei Tapancea 8-3 at No. 2. Tim Hartwick and Matt Lobeck defeated Caleb Thompson and Max Gatyas 8-2 at No. 3.

Hartwick beat Ham 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Lobeck beat Tilford 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, and Sweere defeated Gatyas 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Kyle Sauer beat Runtian Bai 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Ryan Schmit defeated Tapancea 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.

Against La Crosse, Lobeck and Sweere picked up St. Norbert's only win with a 9-8 (7-4) win over C.J. Schwind and Tyler Bertelsen at No. 3 doubles.

Against Eau Claire, Harrington and Acosta beat Lars Olson and Chris Kuna 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
