St. Norbert Sweeps Past Lakeland

PLYMOUTH - St. Norbert College extended its modest winning streak to six with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Lakeland College by scores of 14-3 and 11-1 at Muskie Field.

The Green Knights are now over .500 on the season at 11-10. Lakeland fell to 4-16.

St. Norbert wasted little time taking control in the opener, scoring five times in the first and then five more times in the third for a 10-0 lead. Morgan Buboltz blasted a grand slam in the first inning. Steph Brunette added a two-run single for the big blow in the third. The Green Knights added four runs in the fifth on five hits.

Buboltz finished the game 3-for-4 with five RBIs, while Brunette was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Nine different St. Norbert players had at least one hit. Kari Corbeille earned the win, allowing only five hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert scored three times in the second and seven in the fourth for another 10-0 lead. Ashtin Schmechel and Brittany Narges had RBI singles in the second inning. Narges had a two-run double in the fourth inning.

Narges led St. Norbert with a 3-for-3 game, hitting two doubles with three RBIs. Brunette remained white hot with a 2-for-4 game, which actually dropped her batting average on the season to .590. Kayla Krueger picked up the win, allowing three hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
