St. Norbert Stays Hot With Win Over Edgewood

DE PERE - St. Norbert College got off to its first 3-0 start in nine years with a 3-1 non-conference win over Edgewood College at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights are off to their best start since opening the 2002 season 8-0. Edgewood, ranked seventh in the most recent NSCAA Division III Central Region rankings, suffered its first loss of the year and fell to 4-1.

St. Norbert would get all of its scoring with a quick start, netting all three goals in the first 10 minutes. The Green Knights took a 1-0 lead 1 minute 54 seconds into the game when Zoe Kurth perfectly served a corner kick to Erin McQuinn, who scored her first goal of the season.

Katherine Larson scored at 3:09 when Edgewood goalkeeper Kristi Frisch came out of the net to play the ball and Larson tapped it past her from 20 yards out. Kellan Zimmer then scored at 9:55 on a header when Katie Vanden Avond served a ball to the far post. Vanden Avond also assisted on Larson's goal.

The Eagles would score at 49:58 on Molly Haertle's goal, but would get no closer.

St. Norbert outshot Edgewood 15-7 and held a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks. Sarah Platzer made three saves for St. Norbert, while Frisch made three stops for Edgewood.
