Stroh's Big Night Leads Green Knights Charge Past Auggies

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College junior forward Kyle Stroh posted career highs with his first collegiate hat trick and five points, leading the Green Knights to a 7-2 non-conference victory over Augsburg College at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights, ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, improved to 3-1-1 overall and are 26-0-1 in their last 27 games at the Cornerstone. Augsburg fell to 1-3.

Stroh scored the game's first goal just 2 minutes and 45 seconds in, netting a 5-on-3 power-play marker with a wrister from the right circle.

The Green Knights pushed their advantage to 3-0 early in the second period. Emil Haque and Brandon Hoogenboom scored at 1:34 and 2:57, respectively, of the period. Augsburg then controlled play for most of the next 15 minutes, trimming the deficit to 3-2. Landon Olson scored at 4:46 and Derek Loisel scored at 10:00 on a 2-on-0 chance following a turnover. St. Norbert turned the momentum at 18:48 when Derek Donohue scored when he sneaked the puck just inside the right post for a 4-2 lead.

St. Norbert put the game away early in the third period. Stroh scored at 4:01, followed by a Johan Ryd score at 5:35. Stroh then netted his hat trick at 7:36 to close out the score.

Alain Joanette assisted on three St. Norbert goals to give him a career-high in helpers.

St. Norbert outshot Augsburg 33-24. David Jacobson made 22 saves to get the win in his first collegiate start. Justin Lochner made 24 stops in 47:36 of work for Augsburg, while Casey O'Connor made two saves in relief.

St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while Augsburg was 0-for-3.
