Nine Green Knights Earn All-Midwest Conference Mention

DE PERE - A total of nine St. Norbert College football players received 10 all-conference honors on the 2011 All-Midwest Conference team released today by the league office.

St. Norbert had six first-team All-MWC selections, with five on the defensive side of the ball. Three players were tabbed for four second-team accolades.

Senior offensive lineman Tyler Kuehl received first-team All-MWC honors for the second straight season. Kuehl helped the Green Knights to an average of 166.7 rushing yards per game.

Senior defensive lineman John Troyer, linebacker Ben Nantell and specialist Logan Krueger were first-team choices on defense after receiving second-team honors in 2010. Troyer had 22 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss, Nantell a team-high 76 tackles, 13.5 tackles-for-loss and six quarterback sacks, and krueger netted 8.2 yards per punt return.

Earning their first all-conference honors were other first-teamers in senior defensive lineman Dan Hansmann and junior defensive back Austin Arts. Hansmann finished with 31 tackles, 9.5 tackles-for-loss and a team-high seven quarterback sacks. Arts finished with 30 tackles, three interceptions and a team-high nine passes defensed.

Junior Joe Green was a second-team selection at both wide receiver and as a return specialist. Green finished with 63 receptions for 911 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also averaged 27.8 yards on kickoff returns and 11.3 yards on punt returns.

Junior linebacker Adam Nitsche and junior defensive back Josh Vanden Heuvel were also second-team selections. Nitsche finished the season with 56 tackles, five tackles-for-loss and two quarterback sacks. Vanden Heuvel was second on the team with 57 tackles and also had five tackles-for-loss and two interceptions.
