St. Norbert Salvages Tie at Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to escape with a 5-5 overtime tie with Marian University at the MCHA/NCHA Thanksgiving Showcase at the Blue Line Family Ice Center.

The Green Knights (6-2-3) are unbeaten at 3-0-2 in their last five games. Marian (5-2-3) is 0-1-3 in its last four games. St. Norbert is now unbeaten in its last 240 games when scoring at least five goals, going 233-0-7 since a lost to Bemidji State in 1996.

St. Norbert trailed 5-3 entering the third period. Cody Keefer's goal 2 minutes 35 seconds into the frame brought the Green Knights back to within 5-4. The Green Knights' Brandon Hoogenboom then scored with 6:03 left in regulation for the equalizer.

The Green Knights led 2-0 but eventually found themselves trailing 3-2 after one period. Mason Baptista and Marian Fiala scored 27 seconds apart at the 8:28 and 8:55 marks, respectively, in the first period. The Sabres answered with three goals late in the first period. Bryce Wilson scored at 12:28, followed by a pair of Tom Glomski markers at 13:01 and 16:01.

Seth Soley scored 1:02 into the second period to even the game at 3-3, but Marian answered with two more goals. Matt Berger scored at 5:40, followed by Brian Berger at 8:23. The final goal prompted a goaltender switch from Travis Bosch to David Jacobson. Bosch made 12 stops in his 28:23 of work, while Jacobson stopped all 22 shots he faced in 36:37 of relief.

Marian outshot St. Norbert 4-3 in the overtime session. Josh Baker made 42 saves for Marian. St. Norbert outshot the Sabres 47-39, but the host was 2-for-5 on the power play while the Green Knights were 1-for-3.
