Green Knights Finish Strong to Topple St. Scholastica

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College used an impressive finishing kick to the first half of the season to rally to a 6-3 win over the College of St. Scholastica in a regionally televised Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (7-3-3, 4-3-1 NCHA) trailed 3-1 early in the second period before scoring five unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes 5 seconds of the game.

St. Norbert was facing its first home series sweep since the 2000-01 season when it trailed the Saints (7-3-2, 3-3-2) by two goals in the second period. Jeremy Dawes and Joel Langevin scored 35 seconds apart for St. Scholastica at 4:56 and 5:31 of the period for a 3-1 edge. The Green Knights answered at 9:55 when Cody Keefer scored his eighth goal of the year. Cullen Bradshaw then squared the game at 3-3 on a shot at 15:30.

The Green Knights killed of a major Saints power play at the end of the second period and into the third period. St. Norbert then took the lead on a coast-to-coast play by Alain Joanette at 6:09 of the third period. Emil Haque was then credited with a goal when a pick slowly trickled in at 7:43. Marian Fiala's power-play wrister at 9:58 was the final goal of the game.

Chris Rial, Kyle Stroh and Johan Ryd all had two assists for St. Norbert, while Bradshaw and Fiala also had two-point games.

St. Scholastica outshot St. Norbert 25-24. The Saints were 1-for-6 on the power play, while the Green Knights were 1-for-2. David Jacobson made 22 stops for the Green Knights, while Colin Rundell made 18 saves for the Saints.
