St. Norbert Shoots Down Illinois College

DE PERE - St. Norbert College shot nearly 53 percent from the floor en route to a 71-56 Midwest Conference win over Illinois College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (10-3, 8-0 MWC) have won 40 of their last 41 games against Midwest Conference oppositions. Illinois College, the only team to beat St. Norbert in that stretch, dropped to 3-9, 3-4.

St. Norbert shot 52.9 percent from the floor, making 27 of 51 field-goal attempts. The Green Knights slowly pulled away in the second half, turning a 36-31 lead with 18:05 left into a 49-33 edge with 13:41 to go. The Lady Blues would get no closer than nine points the rest of the game.

Tasha Giese and Krista Pelky both had 16 points for St. Norbert, with Pelky adding seven assists and six steals. Jamie Kuhl and Morgan Heim had 10 points apiece. The Green Knights were a perfect 14-for-14 at the free-throw line.

Brittney Burgess led Illinois College with 18 points. The Lady Blues, who shot 38.7 percent (24-for-62) from the floor, held a commanding 38-25 rebounding advantage but had 21 turnovers.
