Green Knights Pull Away From Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College used a big run late in the game to pull away to a 75-62 win over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference game at Sherman Gym.

The Green Knights, who have won 44 of their last 45 games against Midwest Conference foes, are 13-3 overall and 11-0 in the MWC and hold a two-game lead in the loss column over Monmouth with seven games remaining. Illinois College dropped to 3-12, 3-7.

Illinois College whittled a 14-point deficit down to three points, the last occasion coming when it trailed St. Norbert 54-51 with 8 minutes 53 seconds left. St. Norbert answered with a 10-0 run over the next 2:45 to take a 64-51 lead following a Krista Pelky basket.

The Lady Blues would get to within 65-56 with 5:30 left, but St. Norbert went on an 8-0 run to take a 73-56 advantage on a Jamie Kuhl hoop with 2:51 remaining.

Kuhl led St. Norbert - which did not arrive in Jacksonville until the wee hours of the morning - with 21 points and nine rebounds. Pelky added 20 points for the Green Knights, who shot 44.8 percent (26-for-58) from the floor and were 20-for-28 (71.4 percent) at the free-throw line.

Brittney Burgess led Illinois College with 16 points, while Holly Wohltman added 11 points and Paige Cullison 10. The Lady Blues shot 36.1 percent from the floor, making 22 of 61 field goals.
