St. Norbert Picks Up Pair of Wins

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College extended its winning streak to three following a pair of dual meet wins. The Green Knights topped Concordia University Wisconsin 6-3 on Friday in Milwaukee before topping Illinois College 9-0 in a non-conference matchup.

The Green Knights got off to a good start against the Falcons, sweeping all three doubles points. Derek Harrington and Nick Acosta beat Brian Tresedder and Skip Turner 8-3 at No. 1. Costin Fink and Tim Hartwick picked up an 8-4 win at No. 2 over Taylor Shaffer and Russell Johnson. Josh Sweere and Matt Lobeck claimed an 8-0 win over Tanner Hahn and Nathan Hoeppner at No. 3.

In singles action, Acosta beat Shaffer 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, while Sweere beat Hoeppner 7-5, 7-6 at No. 5. Travis Buechel topped Tanner Hahn 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

St. Norbert did not lose a set in its sweep of Illinois College. Harrington and Acosta beat Colin Ladd and Michael Gilbreth 8-0 at No. 1, followed by Lobeck and Sweere's 8-2 win over Joshua Kuehn and Tim Johnson at No. 2. Fink and Buechel defeated Xander Benziger and Caleb Brown 8-1 at No. 3.

Acosta, Nate Gosz and Fink all picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins. Acosta beat Gilbreth at No. 2, Gosz defeated Benziger at No. 5 and Fink topped Brown at No. 6. Sweere also claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win over Johnson at No. 4.
