Schwoerer Named Midwest Region Rookie of the Year

DE PERE - St. Norbert College freshman forward Andrew Schwoerer was named the Midwest Region Rookie of the Year by

Schwoerer, a Valders native, aided significantly in St. Norbert posting a 16-9 record this season. The Green Knights finished in third place in the Midwest Conference at 12-6. St. Norbert also reached the Midwest Conference Tournament championship game for the third consecutive year.

Schwoerer finished the year averaging 12.3 points per game, the second-best mark on the squad. His 6.4 rebounds per game led the Green Knights. Schwoerer finished the year shooting 52.1 percent from the floor and 77.8 percent at the free-throw line.

Schwoerer's 283 points this season were the most by a St. Norbert freshman since Mike Riley set the school freshman scoring record with 421 points during the 1990-91 season.
