St. Norbert Splits With Grinnell, Lawrence

GREEN BAY - The St. Norbert College men's tennis team picked up a split in a pair of dual meets at Western Racquet, losing to Grinnell College 9-0 before winning a Midwest Conference match with Lawrence University 6-3.

St. Norbert (8-11, 1-0 MWC) opened with defending conference champion Grinnell, and did not win a set in any of the singles matches.

Against Lawrence, St. Norbert won two doubles matches and picked up four wins in singles action.

Chris Schmitz and Mike Hyrczyk beat Travis Fondow and Lincoln Thomas at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Eric Koppmann and Dan Richter followed with an 8-4 win over Kyle Nodarse and Nick Dufficy at No. 3 doubles.

Schmitz beat Daniel Hertel at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-0, followed by Acosta's 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Dufficy at No. 3 singles. Koppmann beat Nodarse 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles, while Nate Tackaberry bested David Klaus 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
