MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College split a pair of non-conference matches against Midwest Conference South Division foes at the Huff Athletic Center on the campus of Monmouth College.

St. Norbert lost to Monmouth College 7-2 before bouncing back to beat Illinois College 8-1 in the nightcap.

The Green Knights picked up their points against Monmouth at No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles. Mike Hyrczyk and Chris Schmitz beat Eric Brandhorst and Ben Morrow 8-4. Ryan Lobeck beat Tony Castro 6-4, 6-1 for the other singles point.

The match against Monmouth could have tipped in the other direction if it weren't for some close losses. Both of St. Norbert's doubles losses came in tiebreakers, while Nate Tackaberry fell in three sets at No. 5 singles.

St. Norbert didn't have much trouble against Illinois College. Schmitz beat Derek Sloan at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0, while Ryan Kerswill beat Scott Kramer at No. 4 singles by the same score. The Blueboys also defaulted three matches to the Green Knights.
