Men's Golf Opens Season with Pair of Events at UW-Green Bay

GREEN BAY - The St. Norbert College men's golf team opened the fall portion of its 2012-13 season with a pair of events hosted by UW-Green Bay at Green Bay Country Club.

The Green Knights took third out of four teams on Sept. 9 at the UW-Green Bay Shootout, and then placed sixth out of six teams at the UW-Green Bay Non-Division I Invitational on Sept. 10-11.

St. Norbert shot a 321 in the Shootout, 29 strokes behind UW-Green Bay's 292. The Green Knights then carded a 325-332--657 in the 36-hole invitational, finishing 60 strokes behind champion University of Indianapolis, with the Division II Greyhounds carding a 597.

In the Shootout, Joe Martin shot a four-over par 76 to finish in fifth place overall. Nic Vrubley was 10th with an 80, while Arthur Mueller was 11th with an 81. Evan Mass and Eric Voss both shot an 84 to tie for 14th.

In the Invitational, Martin was again the Green Knights' top finisher with a 77-82--159 to finish in a 16th-place tie. Mass finished in a tie for 24th place with Vrubley. Mass shot an 83-80--163 while Vrubley carded a 79-84--163. Nick Mueller finished in 36th place with an 86-86--172, and Voss was 38th with an 87-90--177.
