Green Knights Clinch MWC Team Tournament Berth

APPLETON - St. Norbert College clinched a spot in the Midwest Conference Team Championship Tournament for the ninth consecutive year with a 5-4 win over Lawrence University on the outdoor Lawrence Courts.

The Green Knights (6-8, 3-1 MWC North) will face MWC South Division champion Lake Forest College Friday morning at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill., in a tournament semifinal match.

St. Norbert rallied from a 2-1 deficit after singles action. Maria Slusarek and Nancy Chybowski claimed the Green Knights' lone win in doubles action with an 8-4 triumph over Hannah Geoffrey and Ali Heiring at No. 1.

The Green Knights roared back with four singles wins to eke out the win. Chybowski topped Christina Schaupp 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 at No. 1, and Lizzy Tews beat Ali Heiring 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4. Maggie Berens beat Polly Dalton 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and Brittany Dudzik defeated Melissa Heeren 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
