St. Norbert Nears MWC Tournament With Win

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College moved to within one win of clinching a berth in the Mdiwest Conference Women's Soccer Tournament with a 5-0 win over Knox College at Jorge Prats Field.

The Green Knights (11-3-3, 6-1-2 MWC) need to beat Lawrence University Sunday in Appleton to clinch a berth in the four-team field. St. Norbert could also get in with a Grinnell College loss to Ripon College.

St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kellan Zimmer scored at 16:23 with Nicole Beine assisting, and Beine followed with a goal at 20:38 with Elly Wiebusch assisting.

The Green Knights pulled away in the second half. Beine scored at 46:36 for her fifth goal of the season, with Zoe Kurth assisting. Brittany Kosobucki converted her fourth goal of the season with an unassisted marker at 60:50. Zimmer closed out the scoring at 65:18 with her fourth goal of the year, with Erin McQuinn getting an assist.

St. Norbert outshot the Prairie Fire 37-2. Sarah Platzer did not have to make a save to get the shutout for St. Norbert, while Rachael Koene made 15 saves for Knox.
