Green Knights Paste Blueboys

DE PERE - St. Norbert College had a prolific offensive performance and used it to rout Illinois College 95-59 in a Midwest Conference game on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.

St. Norbert (10-3, 7-2 MWC) won for the seventh consecutive time. The Green Knights jumped out to a 53-27 halftime lead, shooting 64.5 percent (20-for-31) from the floor in the first 20 minutes. St. Norbert shot 56.3 percent (36-for-64) from the floor for the game.

The Green Knights led from post to wire, jumping out to a lead of 13-3 in the first four minutes of action. The Blueboys (7-7, 4-5) cut the deficit to seven three times and eventually trailed 28-19 with 9:48 left in the half before St. Norbert put the game away. The Green Knights went on a 15-3 run over the next seven minutes to take a 43-22 lead with 2:42 left before intermission.

Paul Appleton's 3-pointer just before the halftime buzzer gave St. Norbert its 26-point bulge at halftime. Appleton had 16 points, all coming in the first half, and canned five 3-pointers.

St. Norbert opened the second half on a 10-0 run to take a whopping 36-point lead at 63-27 with 16:36 to go on a pair of Brandon Gries free throws, and the game was effectively over at that point.

Appleton's 16 points led all scorers, while Andrew Schwoerer added 14 points. Gries finished with 11 points and Izaiah Anderson had 10 points and eight rebounds, as 13 different players cracked the scoring column for St. Norbert.

Brandon Berry led Illinois College with 13 points, while Zeke Light added 10 points. The Blueboys shot 36.7 percent (18-for-49) from the floor and were outrebounded 40-23.
