Green Knights' Season Comes to End at MWC Tournament

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - St. Norbert College saw its season come to an end with a 66-48 loss to Monmouth College in the Midwest Conference Tournament at Cornell College's Small Multi-Sport Center.

The Green Knights (15-9) suffered through another cold shooting night from the floor, connecting on just 19 of 60 (31.7 percent) field-goal attempts.

Monmouth (20-4) slowly pulled away in the first half, taking a 25-15 lead with 4:08 to go before halftime. St. Norbert went on a 7-0 run, with Amy Wieting scoring five points, to pull to within 25-22 with 2:26 to go. Monmouth settled for a 27-24 lead at halftime.

St. Norbert got to within 32-31 with 14:30 left, but Monmouth would go on an 8-0 run for a 40-31 edge with 11:06 to go. St. Norbert would get to within six three times, the last at 46-40 with 6:09 left, but would get no closer.

Krista Hawkinson was the only St. Norbert player to reach double figures with 12 points. Heidi Van Sistine added nine points.

Monmouth got 21 points and 10 rebounds from Marla Willard, and 14 points and 11 rebounds from Zipporah Williams. The Scots shot 42.6 percent (23-for-54) from the floor.
