Green Knights Finish Second at MWC Championship

BELOIT - St. Norbert College finished in second place at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at Beloit College's Strong Stadium.

The Green Knights totaled 132 points to finish 69 points behind champion Monmouth College, which had 201, to give the Scots the title for the 13th consecutive year. St. Norbert easily outdistanced Grinnell College, which finished third with 80 points.

Taylor Pasterski, named one of the meet's Outstanding Track Performers, won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.40 seconds. He also added a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33 seconds.

Joe McArdle picked up the conference championship in the discus, recording a toss of 144 feet 7 inches.

Akeem Edmonds, Jake Schneider, Pasterski and Stephen Shepard won the 4x400-mter relay with a time of 3:22.91.

Benny Swift led a trio of St. Norbert 800-meter runners who finished in the event's top five. Swift finished second with a time of 1:54.99. Nathan Heppe was fourth in 1:55.69, and Schneider was fifth in 1:56.26.

The 4x100-meter relay consisting of Louis Ayensu-Mensah, Pasterski, Tyler Seidl and Brad Boockmeier finished third in 43.31 seconds.

Randy Hill was third in the high jump with a height of 6-4 and added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at 44-3 1/2.

Mike Verfuerth was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.99 seconds. Jordan Baker was sixth in 16.17, while Boockmeier was seventh in 16.33 seconds. Jack Feuerstein placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.88 seconds.

Mike Linzmeier was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:53.67, while Alexander Clemetson was seventh in 10:20.13. Edmonds was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 50.17 seconds, and Sheperd was sixth in 50.64 seconds.
