St. Norbert Settles For Tie With Augustana

AURORA, Ill. - St. Norbert College jumped out to a 2-0 lead but had to settle for 2-2 tie with Augustana College at the Aurora University Chelsea Lloyd Memorial Classic at Vago Field.
The Green Knights (0-1-1) scored at the 23:13 into the match on Katie Vanden Avond's first goal of the season, with Kaitlin Schmitz assisting. Schmitz put the Green Knights ahead 2-0 when she converted a penalty kick at 30:36.
The Vikings (1-0-1), the defending College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin champions, battled back behind goals from Brianne Frys at 48:03 and Jessa Rizzo at 70:14.
Augustana held a 24-12 edge in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Sarah Platzer made six saves for the Green Knights, while Meredith Chew made four stops for the Vikings.
