Green Knights Fall at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College yielded the final two goals of the game and dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference game at Peacock Memorial Park.

The Green Knights (4-2-2, 1-1 MWC) held a 3-2 lead before the Scots tied the game in the 59th minutes. Monmouth got the overtime game-winner in the 99th minute on Andrea Correa's second goal of the season.

Monmouth (4-2, 1-0) took an early 1-0 lead on Allie DeArvil's goal in the fifth minute. Shannon Jung tied it at St. Norbert with a goal at 26:13, with Kaitlin Schmitz assisting, leading to a 1-1 halftime time.

The Scots pulled ahead 2-1 at 48:30 when Lauren Kellen scored. St. Norbert pushed to a 3-2 lead, with Katie Vanden Avond scoring a pair of markers at 49:24 and 54:56, with Elly Wiebush assisting on the first goal. Kellen retied the game at 3-3 with a goal at 58:41.

Monmouth outshot St. Norbert 22-13, including 3-0 in overtime. Sarah Platzer made seven saves for St. Norbert, while Samantha Barranco had seven saves for Monmouth.
