Vanden Avond Ties Goals Mark at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College junior Katie Vanden Avond tied the school record for career goals by scoring the game's only marker in a 1-0 win over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference match at England Stadium.

Vanden Avond now has 68 career goals, and needs just one more goal to surpass the school record. Vanden Avond, who took the national goals scoring lead in Division III into the weekend, took a feed from Shannon Jung and scored at the 69:32 mark for her 14th goal of the season.

Sarah Platzer made five saves to earn the shutout in goal for St. Norbt. Cat Solberg made 13 saves for the Lady Blues.

The Green Knights (5-2-2, 2-1 MWC) held a 26-8 advantage in shots, but Illinois College (4-4-1, 1-1) had a 15-1 edge in fouls.
