MADISON - Behind a pair of goals in the final 13 minutes, St. Norbert College defeated Edgewood College 4-2 in a non-conference men's soccer match at Breese Stevens Field.

The triumph gave St. Norbert head coach Andy Steger a victory in his collegiate head coaching debut.

Eric Natwick's cross to the far post off a feed from John Cremer with 12:05 left to play snapped a 2-2 tie. Ben Vanden Avond salted the game away with 51 seconds left, scoring on a one-timer off a pass from Donny Baloun.

St. Norbert drew first blood in the game's 19th minute on an Aaron Benson goal. Jarrid Dokey squared the game at 1-1 just before halftime on a header.

Adam Sanchez opened the second-half scoring almost five minutes in off assists from Mike Burmesch and Kevin Conrath. In the 59th minute, Edgewood again tied the game on an Andy Witek breakway goal.

St. Norbert outshot the Eagles 19-10, while Sanchez had the lone three-point night with one goal and one assist. The Green Knights also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Joe Schwartz made two saves for St. Norbert, while Shane Sullivan turned away three shots for Edgewood.

St. Norbert will face Nebraska Wesleyan University and Concordia (Ill.) University this weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Valley Cup.
