GREEN BAY - The St. Norbert College men's cross country team received a solid showing from the top of their lineup to handily win the championship of the Tom Barry Invitational at Colburn Park.

The Green Knights' 42 points easily bested runner-up Ripon College, which finished with 66 points. Third-place Carroll was more that twice the points behind St. Norbert with 88 points.

Mackenzie Laska led St. Norbert's contingent with a third-place finish in 21 minutes 13 seconds. Jon O'Brien placed sixth at 21:28, Alex DeVillers seventh at 21:32 and John Barrett was ninth in 21:57. Gavin Strawn rounded out the Green Knights' scoring with a 17th-place time of 22:42.

Jeff Pentek, who graduated from St. Norbert this past May, won the 4-mile race while running for the St. Norbert Alumni. Pentek's winning time of 20:29 was just four seconds shy of the course record.

St. Norbert has won at least a share of a record 13 Tom Barry Invite championships since the event began in 1975.
