Green Knights Draw UW-Whitewater in NCAA Division III Playoffs

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face UW-Whitewater in the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
The Green Knights (8-2) will face the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Warhawks (10-0) at Noon Saturday at Perkins Stadium in Whitewater.
St. Norbert is making its 11th overall NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance -- tied for 13th most all-time - and tenth in the last 15 years. The Green Knights are 1-10 all-time in the playoffs, and have won 15 Midwest Conference football titles since joining the league for football in 1984. St. Norbert lost to the University of St. Thomas 48-17 in a first-round game last season.
Whitewater is also making its 11th overall NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance and is 33-6 all-time in the tournament. The Warhawks played in seven consecutive Stagg Bowls from 2005 to 2011 before missing the playoffs last season. Whitewater won national championships in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
St. Norbert and Whitewater have met once previously in the NCAA Playoffs, with the Warhawks claiming a 59-17 win in Whitewater in the first round of the 2006 tournament. The Green Knights and Warhawks have met 29 times in the series, which dates back to 1932. Whitewater leads the all-time series 17-9-3.
