DUBUQUE, Iowa - St. Norbert College kept up its solid start to the 2013-14 season with an impressive 60-41 win over Loras College in a non-conference game at the Loras Athletics and Wellness Center.

The Green Knights (2-1) topped a Loras team that was 2-0 to start this season and was coming off an 18-9 season a year ago.

St. Norbert held a slim 14-13 lead with 11:06 left in the first half before embarking on a run to take command of the game. Morgan Heim's 3-pointer at the 10:11 mark started a 17-3 run that lasted until 1:45 remained before halftime.

Tasha Giese had consecutive baskets and Heim buried another big 3-pointer during a stretch leading to a 26-16 lead. The Green Knights pushed ahead 31-16 on a Giese free throw and settled for a 31-19 lead at halftime.

Loras got to within 10 points twice in the second half, the latest at 40-30 with 13:41 remaining. Brianna Byrne hit a basket to stem the Duhawks' tide, and Jill Kleiman connected on a 3-pointer for a 47-31 lead with 9:25 left. Lana Tomashek's 3-pointer with 5:17 to go effectively decided the issue when it put St. Norbert ahead 54-34.

Tomashek scored a career-high 13 points. Heim added 12 points and Byrne came off the bench to contribute 10 points. The Green Knights shot 41.5 percent (22-for-53) from the floor and had just 10 turnovers.

Loras was led by Katie Langmeier's 16 points and nine rebounds. The Duhawks, who outrebounded St. Norbert 40-27, shot just 27.7 percent (13-for-47) from the floor and had 20 turnovers.
