St. Norbert Remains Unbeaten After Rolling Past UW-Stout

DE PERE - St. Norbert College remained unbeaten and untied almost one-third of the way through the regular season with a 5-2 non-conference win over UW-Stout at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (8-0), ranked No. 1 by D3hockey.com and No. 2 by U.S. College Hockey Online.com, scored two goals in the first six minutes to get the jump on the Blue Devils (2-6). Mason Baptista scored at 4:33 when he walked in alone on Stout goaltender Corey Koop following a nice feed from the wall by Zach McDonald. Joe Perry put home a goal from the doorstep at 5:48 for a 2-0 edge.

St. Norbert added to its lead at 5:16 of the second period when Chris Rial scored the first of his two goals of the game. Stout answered on a Danny Ray score at 8:58, but the Green Knights pushed their lead back to 4-1 when Rial scored at 16:47 of the second period.

Stout scored a power-play goal by Kevin O'Donnell at 6:12. St. Norbert killed off a Stout power play later in the third period and iced the game when Erik Cooper scored an empty-net goal at with 39 seconds remaining.

Rial finished with two goals for two points, while Baptista added an assist for two points. Ross Pavek and McDonald both had two assists.

St. Norbert outshout Stout 42-17, including by 22-3 margin in the second period. Tony Kujava made 15 saves for the Green Knights, while Koop finished with 37 stops for the Blue Devils. Stout was 1-for-2 on the power play, while St. Norbert was 0-for-4.
