St. Norbert Takes Care of Lawrence On the Road

APPLETON - St. Norbert College never trailed as the Green Knights remained in the Midwest Conference championship race with a 66-37 win over Lawrence University at Alexander Gymnasium.

The Green Knights (15-4, 12-2) never trailed and moved ahead of idle Cornell College by one-half game in the league standings. Lawrence fell to 3-15, 1-12.

St. Norbert built a 22-10 lead over the first nine minutes of the game before the Vikings answered with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 22-18 with 7:59 left before halftime on an Alex Deshler basket. The Green Knights responded with a 17-2 run to close out the half to take a 39-20 lead at intermission. Heidi Van Sistine had six points during the run, while Brianna Byrne and Morgan Heim each had four.

The Vikings trailed 47-26 with 12:40 left but a 17-2 St. Norbert run over a span of 5 minutes 37 seconds put the visitors ahead 64-29 with 7:03 to go.

Van Sistine led St. Norbert by shooting 8-for-8 from the floor and scoring 16 points while pulling down eight rebounds. Byrne added 13 points off the bench, while Heim totaled 12 points and six rebounds. The Green Knights shot 52.9 percent (27-for-51) from the floor and outrebounded the Vikings 26-23.

Deshler led Lawrence with 14 points and eight rebounds. Patsy Kealey and Andrea Wilkinson had eight points apiece. The Vikings shot 42.9 percent (15-for-35) from the floor but were done in by 24 turnovers.
