Green Knights Cruise Past Marian in NCHA Playoffs Opener

DE PERE - St. Norbert College had little issue winning its first-round game in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Playoffs, topping Marian University 7-0 at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (18-6-2) advance to Friday's Slaats Cup Four semifinal game at Lake Forest College, where it will play College of St. Scholastica at 7 p.m.

St. Norbert jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period. Jillian Kosteck scored at 4:14, Ali Parker at 4:48 and Lauren Roethlisberger at 16:45 for the 3-0 edge.

The Green Knights and Sabres skated to a scoreless second period, a frame where Marian held a 21-14 shots advantage thanks to four power-play opportunities.

St. Norbert put the game away early in the third period when Zoe Kurth notched her 10th goal of the season at the 2:43 mark. Parker scored again, her 17th goal of the season, on a power-play goal at 7:26. Myranda Hayes scored at 10:04 and Emily Chandler at 16:42 to close out the scoring.

Parker finished with two assists for four points, while Kurth had two assists for three points. Andrea Senne had three assists, while Megan Crandell and Ashley Wilson both had two assists.

Kaley Gibson made 31 saves for the Green Knights to register the shutout. Ali Glazer made 39 saves for the Sabres. St. Norbert was 1-for-5 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-7.
