Sisler in Fifth Place in Decathlon After Day 1

DELAWARE, Ohio - St. Norbert College junior Dan Sisler sits in fifth place after the first day of the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Ohio Wesleyan University's Selby Stadium.

Sisler totaled 3,590 points heading into the final five events Friday. UW-Eau Claire's Brandon Zarnoth is the first-day leader with 3,737 points.

Sisler won the shot put among the 20 decathletes with a toss of 44 feet 11 inches for 709 points. Sisler's highest-scoring event was the 100-meter dash, collecting 744 points with a time of 11.54 seconds. He picked up 723 points in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.05 seconds. Sisler added 714 points in the high jump with a height of 6-2 3/4, and 700 points in the long jump with a distance of 21-4 1/4.

Sisler is the only decathlete to post a minimum of 700 points in all five of the first-day events.

The decathlon continues at Noon CDT Friday.
